This morning, the 2008 Oscar Nominees were announced! You can read all about it at the link below:
I watched another great Christmas movie the other night on Lifetime called The Christmas Shoes. The movie starred great actors Rob Lowe and Kimberly Williams. Rob Lowe played a workaholic husband and father who didn’t have time for his family. Kimberly Williams played a dying mother whose son frantically worked to save money to get her a pair of red shoes for Christmas. Near the end of the movie, Rob Lowe and the little boy met up at the store and Rob Lowe paid for the shoes for the little boy and it changed his life forever.
The movie is based on the song, “The Christmas Shoes”. A wonderful, holiday movie to enjoy with the entire family.
I’ve found some of the best movies on television are the Lifetime Original Movies. Even though we now have access to hundreds of channels, I find myself mostly going back to the Lifetime channel and the Lifetime Movie Network.
One movie I like in particular on Lifetime is the movie "Gracie’s Choice". It’s about a teenage girl adn her siblings whose mother is not fit to have had children. She is never around, she had five kids and each one of them had a different father, and she liked to party and sleep around over taking care of her family.
Gracie, the oldest, ends up adopting her three brothers and her mother’s parental rights are terminated. Gracie’s sister had a baby and lived with her boyfriend. It’s sad that this kind of stuff really goes on in the world.
I hate The Simpsons. I always have ever since the show first came out almost 20 years ago. I seriously can’t believe that that trash is still on the air! Now everywhere you turn there is advertising for The Simpsons movie - even at Burger King the kid’s meal toys are of The Simpsons.
My son keeps repeatedly asking to watch The Simpsons on television and to go see the movie and we repeatedly tell him - NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT!
It always makes me mad how good shows are taken off the air, but they leave junk like this on -and for so long.
I took my son to see Underdog today at the movie theatre and let me tell you - it was a terrific movie! What a great Disney movie for kids and grown ups both! We had a ball and I will definitely be buying this movie when it comes out on DVD. It’s one of those that you can watch over and over and still get a kick out of it.
The special effects that were in the movie were awesome and we had a blast! I can’t wait to watch it again!
I love to watch Tom Hanks in movies and I also love watching Meg Ryan. Both of them are very gifted actors and together in Sleepless in Seattle they were terrific!
Sleepless in Seattle is one of those feel good movies, like Pretty Woman, that has you smiling and thinking lovingly long after the movie has ended.
Do things always work out and have such a happy ending in real life? No, of course not. But isn’t it nice to dream once in a while and with this movie you can do that. It makes you fall in love all over again with love!
I watched this movie on On Demand when it came out and I have also watched it a couple of times on HBO. I love The Devil Wears Prada, starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hatheway. What a great job Meryl Streep does acting as a powerful editor of a top fashion magazine. Anne Hatheway is her "gopher" girl and she is constantly on call to her powerful and intimidating boss, Miranda (Meryl Streep).
If you haven’t watched this one yet you have to get it! You will love it!
I don’t know what possessed me to watch Hannibal Rising last night on On Demand, but I did. I really don’t care for those types of movies anymore so it was out of character for me.
I guess even though I’m not really into the gross stuff and horror parts of these movies anymore, I am just intrigued by how some people’s minds work, or how they don’t work I guess I should say!
Hannibal Lecter, played by Anthony Hopkins, in the movies had a tragic childhood. This is where Hannibal Rising starts - with Hannibal Lecter as a child. His family were all killed back in the 1940s and his little sister was also - and he witnessed her slaying.
He is definitely one sick puppy though in these movies. I’m not sure who played the role of young Hannibal though.
One of my favorite movies of all time has been on television a lot lately - Pretty Woman with Richard Gere and Julia Roberts. This is the movie that really put Julia Roberts on the map as an actress.
It was on television today on Lifetime and I had to watch it - again. I have probably seen this great movie 20 times, but I never tire of it. It’s just one of those feel good movies that makes me really happy.
If you don’t own this movie on DVD or VHS, you need to get it! I can’t believe the movie is 17 years old!
On Lifetime this afternoon, the movie Life With Judy Garland - Me & My Shadows was on, starring Judy Davis as Judy Garland. I am a big biography nut so I love to watch any movies or read books on famous people’s lives.
It is just one of those things that has always intrigued me. Judy Garland was 47 when she died, which was young, but her years of prescription drug abuse and drinking really took a toll on her and I thought she looked older than that.
Her poor kids sure went through a lot. Her youngest daughter ended up having a nervous breakdown because at the young age of 14 she had to care for her mother and be a mother to her brother. Very sad story.
