Top Chef

Pic_tom_2 Top Chef is down to the final 2 chefs, who are competing in Hawaii for the title of "Top Chef".  I was surprised that the judges sent Sam home.  I figured the two leaving would be Elia and Ilan.  The last two chefs standing were Ilan and Marcel.  Ilan despises Marcel, so this coming week’s season finale show ought to be interesting!

Top Chef

Pic_tom_1 Last week’s episode of Top Chef was probably the most juvenile to date for this show.  I can’t believe these adults act the way they do!  When watching this show, you would swear these chefs were teenagers, instead of professional chefs, with their behaviors.

For the first week ever in this entire seasion, the judges felt as though they were actually getting some great food prepared by the chef contestants.  Last week’s show was to determine who would be going to Hawaill for the finale, so the chefs were pulling out all stops to deliver.

Pic_tom After being the first in Top Chef history to win both the Quickfire Challenge and the Elimination Challenge, Michael was finally sent home.  Michael has been skating on thin ice for several weeks, so I think he knew he wouldn’t make it to the end.  Honestly, I don’t think he cares either!  He is a VERY laid back guy which in some ways can be good, but I don’t know.  I wouldn’t want to be married to him!

Top Chef

January 8th, 2007 by admin

Last week Top Chef was back on with a new show after a couple of weeks of re-runs.  I was ready to see a new show and made sure I was out of my office and in front of the TV on Wednesday night at 10:00 p.m.

Top Chef is now down to the final 7 competitors and it seems as though everyone is out for one of the chefs - Marcel.  Now I think Marcel is a little over the top, selfish, and conceited - but I feel sorry for him too.  I think he gets the brunt of most of the stress from everyone.

In last week’s Quickfire Challenge, each of the chefs picked a color, then they had to create a dish using only the color that they chose.  For example, Betty chose green, so she could only create a green food dish.

Top Chef

Last night’s episode of Top Chef was shocking!  One of the chef’s, Mia, volunteered to be sent home instead of who the judge’s really wanted to send home, Elia.  Mia felt as though she was already successful back home, had a booming business to return to, and she was getting homesick.  So the judges took her up on her offer and Mia had to pack her knives and go.  You can read about the entire episode on Chef Tom’s blog, who is one of the judges.

Top Chef Recipes

Wednesday night on Top Chef, Frank was sent home.  The contestants had to make meals using either no heat, or unconventional heating methods so it was very interesting.  For the recipes seen on Wednesday’s show, click here.

Top Chef On Bravo

November 28th, 2006 by admin

I admit it - I like Top Chef on Bravo and try not to miss an episode.  It just really intrigues me how these chefs come up with ideas of different foods to make in such a short amount of time (Quickfire Challenges).

I will be posting a link each week (as long as I remember!) of the recipes that have been made on that night’s episode.  On last Wednesday’s show, the chefs were to come up with a "cutting edge" Thanksgiving meal.  Needless to say, the judges were not impressed with their ideas and felt the chefs did not think outside the box on this one.

You can find the recipes from last week’s challenge here.  Enjoy!

Top Chef is on Bravo on Wednesday nights at 10:00 p.m. (eastern time)

Rachel Ray’s Thanksgiving in 60

November 22nd, 2006 by admin

Slideshowthb2 Last night on the Food Network channel, Rachel Ray had a Thanksgiving in 60 special.  She made some interesting foods and put a big twist on your traditional Thanksgiving meal - all in 60 minutes!

She made an apple and onion stuffing, herb stuffed turkey breast, her gravy was made with apple brandy and apple cider, and sliced, baked potatoes with cheese.

I thought her idea for her stuffing was really cool - I never thought about doing this!  She made what she called "muffin stuffing".  She put her stuffing in muffin pans and then baked it!  It was really cool!
