Top Chef Finale Tonight!

January 31st, 2007 by admin

Tonight is the season finale of Top Chef!  I am anxious to see who wins - Marcel or Ilan.  I don’t really care for either of them, but I think Marcel should win, just because he was picked on so much throughout the show.  Yes, he has been annoying, but I think some people just went overboard on taking out their frustrations on him.  We’ll have to wait and see tonight!  Top Chef is on the Bravo channel at 10:00 p.m. eastern time.

Top Chef

Pic_tom_2 Top Chef is down to the final 2 chefs, who are competing in Hawaii for the title of "Top Chef".  I was surprised that the judges sent Sam home.  I figured the two leaving would be Elia and Ilan.  The last two chefs standing were Ilan and Marcel.  Ilan despises Marcel, so this coming week’s season finale show ought to be interesting!

Work or Stay At Home?

January 25th, 2007 by admin

The decision is not easy for mothers.  I was watching Oprah yesterday and the topic was regarding whether women should work or stay at home.  I worked outside of the home until my son was 10 months old.  During that time, I was building up a direct sales business and quit my full-time job.  For me, it was important to be at home.  I knew it would be financially difficult, but with my health issues, I knew I couldn’t work 40 hours and come home and be a good mother.  I knew that I didn’t have the energy to do both.

But staying at home is not for everyone.  It has been extremely difficult for me because I enjoyed being out of the house, independent and I liked contributing financially.

Working mothers are not bad mothers because they decide to work.  In order for us to be good mothers, we have to do for ourselves as well.

What I found amazing on Oprah was that research shows that the United States is one of only four countries that does not offer paid maternity leave for working mothers.  Interesting.
