What’s Up With Google?

October 30th, 2007 by admin

Google has many people questioning whether they should continue blogging or not.  One day your page rank is up, the next it is down.  To many page rank may not seem like a big deal, but for those who blog as a career, the up and down rollercoaster ride that Google has been playing lately is cutting into some of their earnings.

Is Google purposely penalizing bloggers who do paid posting?  And why should this be held against them?

October 29th, 2007 by admin

Britney Spears was not charged with hit and run, as she paid a settlement to the woman whose car she hit on August 6th. Britney is still charged with driving without a license and a plea deal was not accepted to get her out of this. Britney did not have a California license at the time of the accident.

Oprah Winfrey Suffers From Thyroid Issues

October 25th, 2007 by admin

I can associate with what Oprah Winfrey is going through with her thyroid issues.  Oprah was first having an overactive thyroid and now she says her thyroid is underactive (hypothyroidism).  This is the problem that I have.  Before I was diagnosed, I gained about 10 pounds in a two week span.

After childbirth is when many women can also start experiencing thyroid problems, as I did.

Marie Osmond Fainting Makes News

October 24th, 2007 by admin

Everyone on television is making a big deal out of Marie Osmond’s fainting spell on "Dancing With the Stars".  Marie said that she has had fainting spells in the past.  When she gets really nervous or is under stress she can’t breathe right and then she faints.  She said that she has had all kinds of tests run and everything has always checked out okay.  Marie came back with grace, like she always does!

Children’s Cold Medicines

October 24th, 2007 by admin

The speaker in the video below says that the less you do for the common cold for kids, the better.  Why is the FDA just now weighing the safety of these cold medicines?  Recently, children’s cold medicines were pulled from the shelves at stores.  Peditricians told government health advisors that cold medicines should not be given to infants and toddlers to the age of 5.

Baby In Microwave

October 24th, 2007 by admin

I was watching last night on Nancy Grace the story about the man who microwaved his baby. What a sicko. He is trying to use an insanity defense but like Nancy said, if he was capable enough to come up with lies about what he did and he kept changing his story, then he must not be completely insane.  I don’t know though - what sane person microwaves their baby?  That is just sick.

Typepad Adds More New Features & Themes

October 23rd, 2007 by admin

Typepad has always been my favorite blogging service and I am surprised at how few people I know that use it.  I guess because it is not free like Blogger and Wordpress it is not as popular.  I have used all three and by far I have always preferred Typepad over the other two.  It is worth it to me to pay a small fee each month to have the ease that comes from using Typepad.

Now Typepad has yet again made some great new changes!  They have added some features to the comments for bloggers.  You can now close comments on older posts if you so wish.

Now through Typepad you can also paginate your entry archives.  If you’re a frequent or long-time blogger on TypePad, you know that your monthly or category archives will just grow and grow and grow as you continue to post on your favorite topics. This can create challenges for your readers, who have to load a very large page in order to read your great posts on Cooking or Software or Television.

TypePad will now automatically "paginate" your date archives and your category archives, and give your readers the familiar "previous" "next" links to navigate through your archives. This feature will make your archives easier to read and faster to download.

Typepad has also added some great new themes to their portfolio.  I have a blog on Blogger for my BIL’s cancer and I am surprised at how few theme options are available.  This is one perk of being with Typepad that I enjoy the most - I have lots of themes to choose from and I can change whenever the mood strikes!

Latest BlogRush Update

October 22nd, 2007 by admin

John Reese of BlogRush has updated yet again the current standings on the new BlogRush widgets and web service that has been causing a lot of controversry lately.

When BlogRush was first announced, there was a lot of buzz and big hopes for how this free marketing tool would help bloggers build traffic.  There have been many glitches along the way and lots of spam and low quality blogs that have flooded the service but now according to John, these blogs have been deleted from the system.  John is saying that only "high quality" blogs are remaining, as his team has personally went through each and every blog in the system to verify that the blogs are deemed worthy of being a part of BlogRush.

You can read all about John’s update below:

We just completed our Quality Control audit. You will now notice that all non-English, spam, and low quality blogs (or others that didn’t meet all of our guidelines) are GONE from appearing in your widget. We removed over 10,000 blogs from our network.

You will enjoy visiting blogs that show up in your widget now more than ever! You should also start seeing an increase in the traffic you receive from the BlogRush network. (More traffic on the way!)

We will be rolling out the new Dashboard and other changes in the coming week — sorry for the delay. It took about a week longer than we original expected.

* If you were one of our members that had their account deactivated, you will notice that the widget no longer will load on your blog. For now, please remove the BlogRush code from your blog. When you login to your account you will find instructions for how to resubmit your blog for review to reactivate your account.

If your BlogRush account was made INACTIVE recently, please don’t take it personally.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE understand… we had no choice but to move to a strict, quality guideline criteria system. It’s the same thing that many other Internet services use.

And, no, it’s not always fair and impartial. Mistakes ARE made. Good sites can and do end up getting mistakenly rejected. If YOU feel a mistake was made with your blog, as was previously stated, you can resubmit it.

Thank you for your understanding and please do not take it as any kind of sign that we think you’re a spammer or a bad marketer, etc.

If you had a “make money” related blog you should know that we had to be extra strict with that category — because most of the blogs in that category were heavy with ads and promotional material compared with the ratio of tips, techniques, and true unique “helpful” content. Ultimately, it was a judgement call by whatever one of our reviewers reviewed your individual blog.

If you want to see examples of “make money” type blogs that got approved, you can check out the following to get an idea of what we were looking for:

http://www.andybeard.eu
http://www.internetmarketingsweetie.com/blog/

As your notification stated, you can resubmit your blog after the “suspension period” is over.

Best Regards,

John Reese
