A recent survey in BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine asked nearly 400 Canadian chiropractic, naturopathic, and physical and occupational therapy students in their final year of study about the diagnosis and management of fibromyalgia. Nearly 340 students completed the survey, which found that 28 percent of respondents believed FM to be a psychological disease; almost as many—23 percent—believed it to be physiological, and more than a third (34 percent) were unsure. Chiropractic students were most likely to endorse a psychological etiology of the disease.
