I have wanted to help out people and donate blood so many times, but I have read that people with CFS should not do this.
Back in 2001, many CFS patients along with other people across the nation wanted to donate blood due to the tragedy in New York, but the CFIDS Association strongly discouraged PWCs from doing so.
The CFIDS Association wants PWCs to refrain from donating blood, organs, and bone marrow since the cause of CFS is unknown yet and they still aren’t 100% certain if there is some sort of contagious factor.
Donating blood may not be safe for PWCs, as research has shown that many PWCs have low blood volume and other vascular problems and removing additional blood could provoke a relapse.
