Immune system dysfunction is common with those who suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. According to studies, eating sugar can disrupt the immune system even further. Sugar may fill a craving, but it robs your body of nutrients; therefore, putting your immune system in jeopardy.
Sugar stimulates the growth of bacteria. Yeast, or Candida, and parasites all thrive and multiply in a high sugar environment. Bacterial overgrowth that occurs in the digestive system then further disrupts the immune system and may be responsible for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which is often seen in CFIDS and Fibromyalgia patients.
Studies have also shown that sugar suppresses the immune system directly. Sugar consumption not only reduced immune cells but also made white blood cells less functional.
In order to kick your sugar habit, you need to look at ingredients for hidden sugars, use natural sweeteners like Stevia, and don’t add extra sugars to food.
