I hope some of you can help me out – for the past couple of months, I have been having (off and on) extreme leg weakness, with pain. I have had leg pain for several years due to the Fibro and CFIDS, but never this amount of leg weakness. I went to the store this morning, and I could barely make it around the store.
I am wondering that since I have been going to L.A. Weight Loss, and drinking more water, and due to the IC Disease, if I am losing some vital vitamins and/or nutrients when I urinate. Does anyone have any ideas or experience this problem yourself?
angelhiccups says
I dont know about if you could be losing vitamins and things like that, but what I could say is it might be that you are just going through a rough patch or maybe that you have just done too much recently?
I have to use a wheelchair due to leg weakness, because of ME/CFS and it is always so much worse if I have doen too much.
Sorry im not much help.

Hi – I have had Fibromyalgia for many years now. In the last few months I have been experiencing severe weakness in my legs too.
I have been blaming it on one of my medications but now I am wondering if it isn’t due to my Fibromyalgia.
Hope you are feeling better soon and have a Happy and Healthy New Year. Cheers Cathy

I’ve had Fibromyalgia now for about 8 months and I have started having weakness in my knees and I am having a hard time walking through parking lots to the stores. If I go to the large warehouses to shop I have to take breaks through out the store while I am shopping. It is a constant ache, not really a sharp pain (yet). But it is a nagging pain that gets old real quick.
So far I am taking 60mg of Cymbalta. It seems to be helping. Is any one else taking the same thing and is it working for you?

I had one episode of leg pain at night from my hips to my feet for about two weeks. i had a lot of pain behind my knees as well. If you find out why this has occured for yuo please ost it or email me.

This is for Sandy posted almost 4 years ago! I have had fibro and chronic fatigue since I was diagnosed with mono at age 48. I am now 52. I have spells of severe leg and muscle weakness. I have had to ride the carts at Walmart many times and really do not shop now. I used to be very active, riding horses, hiking, etc. I still try to ride. I may be able to walk my horse a few hundred feet and not be able to move; then sometimes I can probably go 1/2 a mile or so (which is nothing compared to how I used to ride). My sister is extremely supportive. She just picks me up, puts me in her vehicle, gets me to her house and we just talk about how much fun we had.
I wish people realized what a debilitating disease this is!! It really is horrible. Some days I feel almost normal if I don’t do anything strenuous. Then somedays, just trying to walk to the bathroom is too much for me!
I still try to work full time as I recently became divorced. I am not able to work, however. I have a desk job or it would be impossible.
Hope you are doing better Sandy!

Hi Mary! I still will have spells of severe leg weakness. I wish you lots of good health and happiness!

To all of you my friends. You are all experiencing CFS and Fibro symptoms. looking for answers is like blowing in the wind. I have done so much research on this. I have had fibro for a long time and now it is affecting my legs badly. Drs of course do not find an explanation. I am also considering getting a wheelchair. I don’t have anyone supportive with me and I live alone which makes it absolutely horrible. Have to cope with everything and I am afraid of getting to a point where I will not be able to care for myself. I have no idea what I am going to do. I have currently started treatments with an osteopath. I have read that it helps, but only had 3 treatments so I cannot confirm it yet. I have taken Lyrica and it made me hallucinate, Cymbalta takes my blood pressure right down so I kept on fainting, but I know these drugs have helped some people. I have found that meditation helps. I send you all my love and I know how you are feeling. Keep positive. Viviana

Hi. I am 53 with a 21 yr history of
MS – misdiagnosed as fibro for 9 of those years, Every one should get a vitamin D level test done. Low normal is 30, I developed sudden leg weakness and found I have very low vit D (12). Booster dose fixes it remarkably well, Medical doctors are just starting to pay attention to Vitamin D deficiency. If you read up on how important this vitamin D is you will understand why I am recommending it. Protects everything from Bones to Cancer.
Good health to you all

I was diagnosed with fibro about 8 months ago. I take 100mg of Lyrica 2/day. My symptoms keep getting worse and I was pulled from work a couple of weeks ago from my extreme leg and muscle weakness. I’m seeing a nuerologist in a week to get some more tests done for my increasingly worsening symptoms. I really hope that there is some magical treatment that can fix me but I feel that most of you are in the same boat. Good luck and best wishes!

Diane….what is your statis today and did they find out what was causing your leg weakness?

My legs are killing me!I take percocet for pain but have been on it for so long it doesn’t help anymore. I have been trying to get answers from the dr. and he says i have RLS.He gave me mirapex made me sleep until the PAIN woke me up again!!!!!!!That didn’t work so he gave me neurotin(which swells me like crazy) and a big ole boost of vit d. Just started that yesterday and praying that it works. I am 51 yrs. old andhave a 15 yr.old son at home and i keep my grandson during the week and it is sooooooo hard to keep up ! I was always very very active always on the go and now it is all I can do to my son to school and my grandbaby to the potty! If the vit d and neurotin work i will let you know!

quadriceps weakness for me too. startrd 6 years ago when I quickly went up and down a couple flights of stairs. was intermittent at first but now permanent. can only go up or down 1 step every 10 seconds leading with the better leg. exercise even gradual makes the weakness worse, not better, something doctors and physical therapists don’t want to believe can happen. all with unexplained weakness should have blood tests for ck, aldolase, magnesium, and ana and an emg test. possibly head and neck mris if reflex testing indicates it. many will find answers with one of those-but of course not all of us.

I have been having alot of leg pain and weakness lately. I have suspected FM or CF because I always have pain everywhere but have not been diagnosed. When I bring up the possibility to my Dr’s, they pretty much ignore me.

I was recently diagnosed with fms and have severe leg weakness. The more I do with it the more I pay for it. I’m stuck in a wheelchair now and have no awnsers to help me. My doc won’t run expencive tests because I have no insurance so I couldn’t pay for them. I can’t tell you much about why only that it sucks and it would be better to just be paralyzed then atleast my legs would be useless and I wouldn’t feel the pain.

I’ve been getting severe leg weakness and pain after walking just a short distance. Just out of curiosity, I googled side-effects of Paxil (Paroxetine) and saw that many, many people have the same problem due to the Paxil. I switched from Paxil to Cymbalta yesterday, so I’m hoping that I get my old legs back. I’ll check back in if I see improvement. Meanwhile, if any of you are taking Paxil, I’d recommend you at least talk to your doctor about it.

Leg weakness was the first symptom I had after getting bit by a tick. It was severe, then went away to be replaced by knee joint pain which also went away after a couple of years to rotate to hips after awhile. Seven years after the tick bite, I was diagnosed with lyme type bacterial infections. During that time I had seizures, and various things such as Neuro problems, fibro, and roaming arthritis type symptoms. Read lymedusease.org for the details and advice on testing and other issues around the subject. It is possible even without the circular rash to get bad bacterial infections and their is definetly a cause for these symptoms. Please check this out.

I have been feeling well now for years, and I encourage you to try a very inexpensive treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome. You can go to the free preview of an ebook on Amazon, namely Environmental Revelation, and then go to the table of contents, and then click on Sodium Thiosulfate Pentahydrate. The entire treatment, how to obtain it and how to use it, is totally described in the free preview of the book (you do not need to purchase the book). If this product makes you feel a lot better (and it certainly made me feel a lot better, and it has made numerous other people feel a lot better), then your chronic fatigue syndrome is likely from an air pollutant, and you may hope to feel much, much better in the future. PS: I haven’t missed a single day of taken the sodium thiosulfate since 1994, and I feel much, much better now in my sixties than I did in my late twenties when suffering from chronic fatigue.
