Last month I started my exercise program of walking and bike riding. What I have been doing is one day I walk and the next day I will ride bikes with my son. By alternating between the two my body seems to do better with that routine.
I have been walking almost 2 miles and it takes me 35 minutes to do that. I think that is pretty good considering how out of shape I am and with having ME/CFS . My son and I ride bikes almost 2 miles and we use the same route that I walk on.
So I’m sure everyone is wondering how in the world I’m able to do that – I have no idea! I am shocked as well. It has only been a month and I don’t know how long physically my body will keep up with that but I am really enjoying it! I take one day off a week and don’t do any type of exercising at all to give my body a break.
I think that I am pretty in tune to my body and I know most of the time what I can and can’t get away with. If I know that it is one of those days that physically I’m just not up to par, I won’t go. I never feel good but a lot of times once I have pushed myself to get out and I take my walk or take my bike ride I will have this renewed energy when I get home – it’s awesome!
Please don’t try this on your own, though. Talk to your doctor first and see what they recommend for you. I can’t stress that enough. Just because I am having fairly good results doesn’t mean that your body will respond the same way.
What is weird is that while I am feeling more energy in a sense, in another way I’m still sleeping a lot throughout the day so that problem hasn’t fully resolved yet and I guess it won’t as long as I have ME/CFS!
I am very sleepy more so than the normal, exhausting, sickening feeling that I get when I am just so fatigued I can’t stand it. My days and nights are still messed up but my husband keeps reminding me that my body needs it if it is instructing me to sleep.
I hope I am able to keep up my exercise routine. My clothes are starting to fit a little looser which has been a great advantage!

Isn’t it amazing what exercise can to for your sense of well-being? I really loved my daily walks with my husband. I am so determined to be able to do it again soon.
I am trying to get some kind of exercise into my days–beyond walking to the kitchen to make coffee and then back to my bed to recover. Lately just taking a shower is a big workout! Pathetic, I know.
I just wrote about exercise today too. We purchased a Wii Fit. Not sure I can handle it yet, but my family sure loves it. So now I can watch them exercise and feel like I am a part of it. lol
BTW, it is great that your husband is so supportive of your need to sleep. I think mine gets annoyed. I can never get enough sleep, especially now that I am finally on some meds.
Take care! ๐

Hi Kathleen, Thanks for stopping by! I am very fortunate and have a wonderful husband. I couldn’t ask for anyone better.
I have seen the Wii fitness things on TV. It looks like a lot of fun. Are they very expensive?
